The Cambridge Rowing Bootcamps coaches are competing at the World Masters Regatta 2013 this week - held in Varese, Italy.

Our three big focuses are: RACE FAST, LEARN and HAVE FUN. There is plenty of all three! The weather is fantastic and we are certainly leaving our legs on the course each race.

The competition is fierce with many ex-internationals and national level rowers from Germany, Italy, USA etc but we're holding our own in our events - 'in the pack' if not leading it! We have also stepped up a level relative to the UK crews we've been racing this season, beating a number of crews who have headed us at UK regattas and getting with a second or so of some crews that had us well beaten in July.

Despite having no boat with 30mins to the start, the scratch 8 with Leicester Rowing Club went well and finished 4th overall. A great start to the regatta.

Our main event was the quad scull yesterday. We had a good race - great rhythm and every one of us giving it beans. We finished 6th, 4 seconds ahead of a UK crew who had beaten us 4 weeks previously.

We send a huge thanks to Matt Castle who coached us in the quad and has made massively contributed to our speed.
